Russian and Turkish are among the most widely spoken languages of origin in Germany. While foreign languages taught at school in Germany generally represent cultural capital, the possibility of creating professional value from languages of origin seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Through an exploratory analysis of job advertisements, this study sheds light on the value of Turkish and Russian language skills as a resource for dual vocational training positions in selected occupational fields.The results presented are based on the analysis of a dataset of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training Bonn, which is composed of job advertisements of the Federal Employment Agency.
