This volume is dedicated to a subject that has received little attention to date: music therapy in the treatment of addiction. It sheds light on different music therapy approaches in the treatment of addicts and highlights the relevant theoretical backgrounds. The spectrum of approaches ranges from integrative therapy, attachment theory and self-regulation concepts, to in-depth psychological/ psychodynamic views, to regulative music therapy according to Schwabe, and morphological music therapy. Based on different theories, music therapy methods and interventions are described and illustrated by case vignettes. In this way, music therapy practice in the treatment of addiction is theoretically grounded and described in an understandable way.
